The city of Torrevieja will be the setting tomorrow, Saturday, 27th June, for the celebration of British Armed Forces Day. The event is organised by The Royal British Legion of Torrevieja in collaboration with the Department of Coexistence and Integration of Torrevieja Town Hall.
The commemoration will begin at 18:00 hours with a parade of standards that will march through the city centre from Plaza Miguel Hernández to Plaza de la Constitución. The procession will be accompanied by the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums musical group, offering a colourful display of tradition and solemnity.
An institutional event with diplomatic and military representation will take place upon arrival at Plaza de la Constitución. The protocol event will be attended by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, alongside institutional representatives, the Military Attaché of the United Kingdom Embassy in Spain, Captain Anthony Crabb, the United Kingdom Vice-Consul in Alicante, Elizabeth Bell, and members of the Royal British Legion and local residents.
During the event, tribute will be paid to the men and women who form part of the British Armed Forces, on a day that highlights the bonds of friendship and coexistence between the resident British community and the municipality of Torrevieja.
The celebration of British Armed Forces Day once again demonstrates the open and inclusive character of Torrevieja, a city where citizens of more than a hundred nationalities live together and where the British community constitutes one of the international groups with the deepest roots and participation in the social and cultural life of the municipality.
