A man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, 30th June, after threatening several people with an air pistol across various establishments on Calle Filet de Fora in Elche. The individual caused multiple situations of maximum alarm due to fears that he was carrying an active firearm.
The detained man entered a local bar in the area, where he pointed the weapon directly at the head of a customer. Additionally, two occupants of a lorry reported that this same individual had attempted to open the vehicle doors while aiming the pistol at them, though they managed to escape the scene because the engine was already running.
Following alerts regarding the situation, local police officers deployed to the scene spotted the man leaving a driving school. Upon noticing the presence of the police, the suspect placed the pistol on the ground and approached the officers, who immediately brought him under control. After examining the weapon, officers verified that it was a Powerline 426 air pistol, which was subsequently confiscated.
An employee at the driving school also stated that the man had entered the premises armed and swept the room with the pistol while pointing it at those present, repeatedly declaring, “He is not here.” He then left the establishment just before being intercepted by the police.
The individual was arrested and informed of his rights before being transferred to a medical centre and subsequently to police facilities for the processing of the corresponding legal proceedings.
