The Ayuntamiento of Pilar de la Horadada has formalised the free transfer of a municipal building to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). The facilities are located in the Parque 30 de Julio, adjacent to the cafeteria and the Retired and Pensioners Club. This initiative will provide the organisation with a permanent space to carry out its work in providing care, guidance and support to cancer patients, their families and volunteers.
The official event was attended by the Mayor of Pilar de la Horadada, José María Pérez Sánchez, alongside the Councillor for Health, Nieves Moreno Moreno. Also present were Fermín Crespo Rodríguez, the provincial president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Alicante, Ignacio López de Zamora, the manager of the association in Alicante, and Emilia Sánchez Moya, the president of the local board of Pilar de la Horadada. They were joined by representatives of the association, volunteers, municipal council members and numerous residents who wished to support the organisation on this important day for the municipality.
During the event, the official transfer document was signed by both the Ayuntamiento and the association, and the new facilities received a blessing, completing a project designed to solidify the presence of the entity in Pilar de la Horadada and expand the services it offers to the public.
The new headquarters is designed to serve as a reference point for anyone seeking information, guidance or support regarding cancer. From this space, the association will offer care and accompaniment to patients and families, run health promotion and prevention initiatives, share information on healthy lifestyle habits and early detection, launch awareness campaigns and coordinate volunteer efforts.

This transfer of municipal property reflects the commitment of Pilar de la Horadada Ayuntamiento to health promotion, disease prevention and the strengthening of local associations that provide essential care.
The Councillor for Health, Nieves Moreno Moreno, emphasised that the opening of this new base is a significant step forward for the town, noting that it brings essential resources closer to patients and families while providing a stable home for vital local work. Representatives at the event also highlighted the ongoing importance of coordination between public administrations and social entities to encourage healthy habits, support early detection and offer close accompaniment to those facing cancer.
The Ayuntamiento of Pilar de la Horadada expressed its gratitude for the dedication of the volunteers and members of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, describing their daily efforts as an example of solidarity and community support.
