The Local Government Board yesterday approved the basic and execution projects for the outdoor municipal swimming pool complex and changing rooms on the plots annexed to and integrated into the Felix Candela Sports Centre. “We are taking a very important step to fulfil this historic demand of Crevillent, and the next thing will be to tender the works for this infrastructure in the coming days,” celebrated the Mayoress Lourdes Aznar Miralles.
The swimming pool complex will be located on a 7,086 square metre plot, where three pools will be built: a semi-olympic pool measuring 25 by 12.5 metres; a teaching and leisure pool measuring 18 by 12.5 metres; and a children’s or paddling pool measuring 12.5 by 6 metres.
The complex will have a capacity for 487 people and will also feature changing rooms for adults and children, a multi-purpose room, a first aid room, auxiliary spaces, storerooms and service areas, offering a modern and functional facility with a large landscaped area of more than 2,600 square metres. In detail, the project includes two large changing rooms for adults, two children’s changing rooms, general toilets, access control, a first aid room, facilities for lifeguards, storerooms, a multi-purpose space, large porches and covered terraces.

According to the estimates contained in the project, the facility is sized for a simultaneous occupancy of up to 487 people, guaranteeing the safety and accessibility conditions required by current regulations.
Mayoress Lourdes Aznar highlighted that “we have assessed all scenarios and possibilities for the municipal swimming pool model that we could execute, and we will generate a space with three fully functional pools seeking to maximise the number of activities that can be carried out in them.” The highest local authority also commented that “we have carried out a study of maintenance costs and human resources that we considered essential to check its economic viability and be able to get an idea of the management of the facility.” Lourdes Aznar also explained that space is being reserved on the land to, if considered necessary and appropriate, locate a future indoor swimming pool.
The project has been designed to improve accessibility, separate the access points for the swimming pool and the sports centre, reduce the acoustic and visual impact of the bypass, and create a more pleasant environment for users.
The planned investment amounts to a total budget of 2,664,879.61 euro, with a building of 1,618 square metres constructed between the ground floor and the technical basement, and with an execution period of up to 10 months from the start of the works.
