The Orihuela Local Police have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against industrial property after seizing a significant shipment of sports clothing, bags and accessories from well-known brands that were allegedly counterfeit.
The incident took place when the owner of a van went to the municipal pound on the Orihuela Costa to retrieve his vehicle, which had been previously impounded for lacking compulsory insurance.
During the handover of the vehicle, officers noticed that the rear doors did not close properly. When the officers asked for the doors to be closed, they discovered that the interior was filled with large bags containing numerous items from top brands.
Given the quantity of material located, the cooperation of several officers was required to carry out a full inspection of the goods.
The final count revealed more than 2,000 sports garments from different teams and national selections, as well as dozens of bags and accessories from recognised commercial brands. The estimated retail value of the seized material amounts to approximately 52,945 euro.
Following the verifications carried out, officers proceeded to arrest the owner of the merchandise as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against industrial property, leaving both the detainee and the seized goods at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
