The National Police have arrested a fugitive in Orihuela who is allegedly linked to Swedish criminal organisations. The individual is accused in his home country of providing ammunition and weapons for the commission of violent crimes and attacks.
The arrest was carried out in collaboration with Swedish law enforcement following a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office. Spanish authorities also executed a European Investigation Order in connection with the case.
The suspect, who has been residing in Spain for several years, was located by investigators and detained last Thursday, 9th June. Officers also conducted a search of his home in Orihuela, where they seized several electronic devices. These items will now be analysed for potential evidence.
According to police information, the man faces accusations of arms trafficking related to organised crime. Investigators believe he acted as a supplier of weapons and ammunition to criminal groups involved in attacks and violent disputes.

Reports indicate that the criminal organisations under investigation frequently recruit individuals, sometimes minors, to act as hitmen. Recruitment is often conducted via social media, with payments for these assignments made using cryptocurrencies to hinder police tracking and maintain anonymity.
The operation was conducted by the GRECO Levante of the General Commissariat of Judicial Police and the General Commissariat of Information. This action is part of a wider effort to combat emerging threats to internal security, specifically those concerning transnational crime and organisations with the capacity to infiltrate various social, economic, and technological structures.
Following the arrest, the suspect was brought before the Orihuela Court of First Instance. He has since been placed at the disposal of the National Court, which is overseeing the procedure for his potential extradition to the Swedish authorities.
