The seven National Police stations across the Alicante province have welcomed 152 trainee officers who will complete a year of training while serving as vital security reinforcements in their respective cities.
The 152 officers have been assigned to police stations in Alicante (48), Alcoy (8), Benidorm (32), Elche (40), Elda-Petrer (8), Orihuela (6), and Dénia (10).
These trainees, who belong to the 41st graduating class of the Basic Scale, were formally presented this Wednesday at the ADDA auditorium in Alicante. The Deputy Government Delegate in Alicante, Manuel Pineda, attended the presentation to inspect the formation alongside the Provincial Chief Commissioner of Alicante, Manuel Lafuente.
Beyond completing their training, these officers will bolster staff levels at police stations across the province throughout the summer. This increased presence is intended to support security operations on the streets, including initiatives such as “Safe Tourism” and “Operation Summer.”
The Deputy Government Delegate also addressed officials from the provincial stations, including the outgoing Chief Commissioner of Elche, Pedro Montore. Due to the upcoming retirement of Commissioner Matías Hernández, who currently serves as the Provincial Head of Operations, Pedro Montore has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of the Provincial Police Station. As of Wednesday, Montore has commenced his duties in Alicante, while Chief Inspector Roberto Sánchez has taken on the role of Chief Commissioner in Elche until a permanent appointment is made.
The Deputy Government Delegate congratulated the new Provincial Head of Operations and noted that the 152 trainees will spend the next year rotating through various National Police departments, including Citizen Security, Immigration and Borders, Forensics, Judicial Police, and Intelligence. “They will graduate as police officers as they should be, and with a strong commitment to public service,” stated the head of the Government Sub-delegation.
Pineda emphasised that the officers’ arrival during the summer season—a time when the number of holidaymakers on the Costa Blanca rises significantly—provides an essential boost to existing operations. These measures are designed to ensure public safety in the various cities across the province where the force is deployed. The sub-delegate concluded by commending the training programme provided to the officers and reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring the highest quality of protection for citizens.
