Aircraft noise was raised during yesterday’s, 26th July, plenary meeting in Elche, as the PSOE voiced the concerns of residents from Bonavista and Montesol who suffer daily noise pollution generated by the airport.
Socialist spokesperson Héctor Díez attributed the issue to an increase in air traffic and asked the local government to demand action from the relevant authorities.
In response, People’s Party councillor Claudio Guilabert noted that the local council lacks direct powers to resolve the issue, but assured that they will continue to demand measures from AENA and the Ministry of Transport to alleviate noise levels across districts near the airport. Guilabert also pointed out that despite sending six letters to the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, he has still not agreed to meet with Elche council.
