The La Mata and Torrelamata Residents’ Association has requested that Torrevieja Town Hall institutionally support the installation of acoustic screens along the N-332 road as it passes through La Mata. The neighbourhood association wants the local council to lead this request before the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which is the government department responsible for state roads.
The proposal was formally registered by the organisation following complaints raised by local residents in various areas, particularly in Puerto Romano, Calle La Lecha, and around the La Mata Health Centre. Residents in these locations have reported ongoing disruption for years caused by the high volume of traffic using the road.

According to the association, the main objective is for Torrevieja Town Hall to review the initiative and, if deemed appropriate, adopt it as an official request to present to the central government. They argue that the heavy traffic flow on the N-332 generates significant noise pollution, which negatively affects the rest, well-being, and overall quality of life for people living nearby.
In addition to reducing noise levels, the group has suggested that if the project moves forward, the acoustic screens should be designed with landscape integration criteria in mind. This approach aims to minimise the visual impact of the infrastructure on both the urban environment of La Mata and the surrounding Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park.
While acknowledging that the authority to execute the works lies with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the association considers institutional backing from Torrevieja Town Hall essential to strengthen the petition before state administrators. Furthermore, for full transparency, the association confirmed it has made the registered document public so any local neighbour can review the complete text of the submitted proposal.
