A 39-year-old man who is a neighbour of San Vicente del Raspeig has been arrested following the discovery of a stolen vehicle ring. The Guardia Civil recovered a car, a boat and a trailer that were stolen several months ago from the port of Águilas, in the Region of Murcia.
According to the Guardia Civil, a patrol spotted a car parked in a street in San Vicente that was registered as stolen. The vehicle was also bearing incorrect registration plates, which raised the suspicions of officers during a routine check.
Following a more detailed inspection, officers verified that the car had undergone several modifications to make identification difficult. Among the changes observed were altered components and repainted sections, indicating an effort to conceal its origin.
From this discovery, investigators focused their efforts on the individual who had sold the car. Initial inquiries suggested that this person might be using vehicles with similar characteristics to swap registration plates and sell on stolen cars without triggering suspicion during police checks.
During the investigation, officers located a plot of land where the suspect was carrying out mechanical work without administrative authorization. On that plot, they found several vehicles and various items that raised suspicion due to their condition and origin.
Among these goods, officers located a boat and a trailer listed as stolen months earlier from the port of Águilas. Both were valued at around 30,000 euro, according to estimates made during the operation.
Faced with the risk that these items could be sold or moved elsewhere, the Guardia Civil decided to intervene immediately. Officers proceeded to arrest the suspect, who is under investigation as the alleged party responsible for several criminal offences.
The detainee was brought before the Civil and Instruction Section of the First Instance Court of San Vicente del Raspeig. He is being investigated for offences of vehicle theft or unauthorized use, fraud, and falsification of registration plates, pending further judicial proceedings to determine if other individuals are involved or if more vehicles are affected.
