With a simple click, phone call, or text message, having goods delivered to your doorstep is commonplace today. In some instances, the order even includes drugs, though such convenience carries the heavy risk of a prison sentence. This is the reality facing a father and son in Elche who were operating a “telecoca” service, a system used to distribute narcotics to homes via motorcycle. The National Police have arrested the two men, aged 56 and 30, on suspicion of drug trafficking offences.
The investigation began after the National Police station in Elche received intelligence regarding a property in the Carrús neighbourhood, from which drugs were allegedly being distributed in small quantities. Agents from the Narcotics Group of the Judicial Police in the Elche National Police station took charge of the inquiry, focusing their initial efforts on identifying the occupants of the residence.
After discovering the location and confirming that the targets were a father and son—both of whom had several prior convictions for drug trafficking offences—investigators conducted surveillance on the home. They observed the suspects making short trips on a moped to various other addresses. The pair frequently met with individuals for brief periods before returning to their base.
Furthermore, detectives noted that the suspects took extensive safety precautions while travelling on the moped. They appeared to be monitoring for any surveillance, often circling the block of their home multiple times before entering the garage.
Once they had gathered sufficient evidence, officers executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence. Both men were arrested at the scene. During the raid, police seized 95 grams of cocaine, 5,605 euro in cash, precision scales, and various items used for packaging narcotics for retail distribution.
Additionally, officers impounded one of the mopeds allegedly used in the distribution operation. According to sources from the National Police, investigators discovered further evidence relating to the case inside the vehicle’s storage compartment, which they also seized.
