A woman has died after being struck by a TRAM train in Villajoyosa yesterday morning, Monday 17th August. The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 am along the tracks of Line 1, on the section running between the Villajoyosa and Creueta stations. Emergency services were dispatched swiftly to the scene following the alert, but medical responders could only confirm the woman’s death upon arrival. No other injuries were recorded during the incident.
The collision forced the temporary suspension of service along this section of Line 1 as authorities worked at the site. Officers from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium responded to the scene and remained on standby alongside local officers and regional forces while Judicial Police officers and forensic services conducted their initial procedures. Once these on-site protocols were completed, officers moved to recover the body from the tracks. The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision, and specialist teams are continuing to gather information to clarify what took place prior to the impact.
