On Saturday, 29th August, residents of San Juan beach in Alicante experienced tense moments with a pair of unlicensed parking attendants. The illegal attendants were involved in an altercation after several people refused to pay to park their cars in a free public parking lot.
According to sources close to the incident, the altercation occurred on Avenida Niza, where a pair of unlicensed parking attendants persistently demanded money from beachgoers. The illegal parking attendants repeatedly insisted that people pay to park on the street.
The situation did not escalate further thanks to the swift action of the Alicante Local Police. Faced with the violent behaviour of the parking attendants, officers went to the parking lot on Avenida de Niza, where they managed to subdue them.
Not before there were further moments of tension, when one of them acted violently against the police officers, opposing their instructions, so they proceeded to arrest him immediately.
The residents’ association of San Juan beach, Juntos Avanzamos, has praised the actions of the local police, describing them as magnificent and swift. The residents criticise these types of abusive practices in coastal areas.
