Officers from the Guardia Civil have arrested three youths, two of them minors, who were responsible for robbing the same service station three times in the province of Murcia. The members of the criminal group also carried out two further robberies on public roads, using a handgun and a large bladed weapon to threaten and assault their victims.
The investigation began in July following complaints regarding two violent street robberies committed in the district of Beniaján, Murcia. The perpetrators were a group of three youths who threatened and struck their victims to steal various valuable items, including mobile phones, electric scooters, watches and wallets.
The physical descriptions of the suspects involved in these street crimes matched those of the individuals responsible for another violent incident: an armed robbery at a petrol station in the province of Murcia on 5th July.
The criminal group later targeted the exact same service station a second time. On this occasion, they used a large-bladed weapon to intimidate the petrol station worker and steal the daily takings.
Just the following day, the group returned to rob the very same petrol station for a third time. During this third raid, they used a handgun and violently assaulted the worker, who required medical treatment at a hospital in Murcia.
Specialists from the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil, working in collaboration with the Local Police of Murcia, successfully identified the suspects and established that one of the minors acted as the ringleader of the criminal group. All three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of five counts of robbery with violence and intimidation.
