Drink driver injured after crashing vehicle into streetlight in Alicante

A driver tested positive for alcohol consumption and suffered minor injuries after crashing his car into a streetlight early yesterday morning, Monday 31st August, in Alicante. The collision occurred at 06:58 on Avenida de Villajoyosa, near La Cantera, while the vehicle was travelling towards Alicante.

According to municipal sources, two other passengers were inside the car at the time of the incident, both of whom escaped completely unharmed.

The impact of the crash knocked the streetlight down, forcing Local Police to temporarily close traffic in both directions. Municipal officers managed the scene and reopened the road to normal traffic flow at 08:16.
