National Police and Madrid Municipal Police officers have arrested four individuals in the Tetuan district of Madrid following an argument on a bus travelling from Benidorm, in Alicante. The suspects face charges of illegal weapons possession and issuing threats.
The incident took place on 30th August, when a dispute broke out between two male passengers on a coach journey between Benidorm and Madrid. During the argument, the men exchanged threats, and one of them drew a large machete, according to a joint statement issued by both police forces.
Following the confrontation, the man who produced the machete fled the scene accompanied by three other people. Police officers launched an immediate search of the area, which led to locating a group matching the suspects’ descriptions in Tetuan.
When searching their belongings, officers discovered a machete featuring a 45-centimetre blade, along with two additional knives with blades measuring 19 centimetres and 12 centimetres, respectively.
All four suspects were arrested for suspected offences of illegal weapons possession and making threats before being placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
