The Guardia Civil, as part of Operation Bastion 26, has dismantled a marijuana plantation installed inside a house in San Miguel de Salinas and has arrested three men aged 34, 53 and 57, who are accused of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal group and electricity fraud.
The investigation was launched by the ROCA Team in Torrevieja following the discovery of a pile of marijuana plant remains in the town, a finding that garnered public attention in March. Based on this lead, the officers attempted to determine the origin of the waste and the possible existence of a marijuana plantation in the area. The investigative efforts carried out made it possible to locate a house that could be related to the activity under investigation, and to specify the involvement of the people who went there.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the ROCA Team from Torrevieja carried out the operation with coatings of support from the Citizen Security Unit of Torrevieja and its drone team, officers from the San Miguel de Salinas station, and the Investigation Unit of Pilar de la Horadada. During the search of the property, officers discovered a marijuana plantation that occupied all the rooms of the house, spread over two floors, except for the kitchen, where the person responsible for monitoring and maintaining the crop slept.
Inside, officers seized 262 large marijuana plants, which were in their final flowering stage and just days away from harvest. They also confiscated the cultivation equipment, including 12 air conditioning units, 87 LED lights, 30 fans, seven exhaust fans, and eight air filters, as well as three mobile phones and 1,000 euro in cash.
A third person involved was located and subsequently arrested in Guardamar del Segura, following the efforts made by the investigators. Finally, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Torrevieja, acting as duty court, and were released with the imposition of precautionary measures. The operation has made it possible to clarify the origin of the plant remains found in the town, dismantle the responsible group and stop the activity.
