Patients across the Valencian Community were unable to book, change, or cancel appointments at health centres and hospitals on Monday following a widespread crash of the regional health booking system. The new GVA Salut+ app froze when users attempted to access the appointment section, rendering management functions impossible. Although the panel occasionally opened, it blocked any further actions. While access was intermittent, issues remained persistent throughout yesterday morning, Monday 14th September, with the system completely failing from 12.15pm before service was restored around 2.00pm, according to sources from the Regional Ministry of Health.
The disruption extended beyond the booking portal to affect Abucasis, the main management software used across Valencian healthcare. Healthcare staff confirmed a generalised failure across the autonomous community from 12.15pm, causing delays for numerous scheduled consultations and diagnostic tests. Primary care doctors reported being unable to view or request blood tests and X-rays, write clinical histories, or view available appointment slots, forcing staff to take manual notes for patients requesting appointments.
According to the Regional Ministry of Health, the incident was caused by a telephone network failure affecting various sites, which was resolved by 2.00pm to allow the Abucasis service to recover. The GVA Salut+ app, which was updated at the beginning of April, has faced previous technical difficulties, including initial access issues that created challenges for older users.
