A court has handed down a conviction to a repeat offender who assaulted two Guardia Civil officers during an emergency call-out in Torrevieja, with one of the law enforcement officers requiring 112 days to make a full recovery. The legal ruling orders the individual to pay €8,205 in total compensation for the injuries sustained.
The incident took place following a domestic dispute inside a local property. When the two Guardia Civil patrol units arrived at the scene to handle the situation, the defendant reacted with violent hostility upon leaving the premises. He struck one of the agents directly in the face and engaged in a fierce physical struggle with both officers on the ground, requiring backup support to finally subdue, immobilise and handcuff him.
The confrontation resulted in significant injuries for both members of the Guardia Civil. The first agent suffered a sprain and an oedema in his left ankle, needing 21 days to heal. The second officer sustained more severe injuries, including a bone oedema in the knee, a bruise on the upper left eyelid, and post-traumatic gonalgia. This second officer required pharmaceutical treatment and ten rehabilitation sessions, stretching the healing process to 112 days.
The judicial sentence establishes that the offender must pay compensation of €1,600 to the first agent and €6,605 to the second, bringing total civil liability to €8,205 alongside legal interest. Additionally, the ruling outlines that failure to meet the financial penalties will result in immediate imprisonment through supplementary personal liability.
