Playa de La Mata South

Popular beach to the north of Torrevieja

The beach at La Mata, or Torrelamata, is approximately 2,365 metres long, making it the largest beach in the municipality of Torrevieja. In order to make things easier for everyone, the beach has been divided into two segments, north and south, or playa de La Mata norte and playa de La Mata sur.

The southern beach of La Mata (sur) is about 1,930 metres long and stretches from Av. de los Europeos to Av. del Agua. It is one of the most popular and frequented beaches in Torrevieja due to its location and extension.

The central part borders the "Molino del Agua" Municipal Natural Park, a protected space that houses an interesting dune ecosystem where important fauna and flora conservation projects are carried out.

The beach itself has two stretches of promenades with a wide range of restaurants, complete with beach bars. It also has hammock and lounger rental, aquatic recreation, children's games and beach sports areas.

Due to being a sector highly exposed to the prevailing winds and currents forming at certain points, adapted bathing services are not provided on the southern part of the beach (sur), so those with mobility issues must use the services in the nearby Cabo Cervera or the designated area on the beach of La Mata north beach.
