Catalan police are now equipped with a new, none-lethal weapon in their equipment kit, as Tasers have been introduced in addition to their normal firearms.
The police have undergone an extensive training scheme on how to use the weapon, including having it used on themselves so they can be fully aware of the effects of using it.
The introduction has not been without controversy however, when the use in detaining one prisoner resulted in a variety of injuries, but many other argue that any injury is far better than the police having to use lethal force.
A Taser is an electroshock weapon sold by Taser International. It uses electrical current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles causing “neuromuscular incapacitation”.
