After falling at the very final promotion hurdle last season, when they lost the home leg of their playoff final to Real Betis B, with debts of over 60,000 euro, Orihuela CF were thought unlikely to survive.

Although that debt still exists and a repayment plan has still to be agreed by the courts the club has been included in the new season list of Tercera fixtures by the Valencia Football Federation although the oriolano club will soon reform under the banner of Deportivo Orihuela

But that has not stopped the club welcoming Albacete born Andrés García Tébar as their new manager. Among his long line of achievements with Hellín Deportivo, Locar CF, Ciudad de Murcia, Yeclano, Algeciras, UD Eivissa, Mérida UD, Águilas CF, Motril CF, AD Cerro Reyes, CE Hospitalet, UD Puertollano, UD Melilla and CD Tenerife, Tébar has won two promotions to the Third Division; two to Segunda B, four Playoff promotion places to Segunda B and two to Segunda A with Melilla. In 2010-11 he was third in the regular season and fell the playoff stage against Deportivo Alavés.

And the manager has wasted no time in reaching agreements with two formerplayers. Daniel Pérez Moreno (Tonino) and Enrique Espinosa Riquelme (Kike Espinosa) have both re signed for the coming campaign.

Tonino came to Orihuela CF last season, from Cartagena while Kike Espinosa joined from Villarobledo in Castile La_Mancha and finished the season as one of the leading scorers.
