‘Operasiones espesiales’ will premiere on September 19 at about 30 cinemas across Spain. An action packed movie the plot centres around the theft of The Lady of Elche

The film was put together over almost four years. It was shot in over 80 locations including Elche, Alicante, Madrid, Jacarilla, Benitachell, Torrevieja and Santa Pola and it employed approximately 30 technicians, more than 800 extras and about a hundred actors including Alex O’Dogherty, Enrique Villen, Carlos Santos, Emilio Gaviria and Cristina Cifuentes. There are also a lot of familiar faces from the small screen, as well as a cameo appearance of the famous director and actor Santiago Segura.

With a budget of around 100,000 euros, 80% of the costs have been funded via the crowd funding method, so to date, over 1,000 individuals and about 100 companies have invested in the project. Yesterday, the actor Enrique Villen said that "Spanish cinema is increasingly surreal and that the completion of Operasiones espesiales is one of the best examples of the success that can be had from such a small project.

The film was previewed last Wednesday in the Berlanga Madrid where it was attended by much of the main cast and its director, Paco Soto.

Operasiones espesiales will also be screened at the Torremolinos Film Festival on 31 October.
