INTER SOCIETY CHALLENGE 2014

This was the inaugural competition for golf societies; the format was generally new for Golf Societies with a four man team playing two ball Texas Scramble, each team being split and at the end of the competition the team pairings gross scores were added together and the Texas handicap deducted to provide the total team score.

Fourteen Golf Societies entered the tournament and with a Shot-Gun start the competition commenced at 08:30 on a day that was warm, sunny and near perfect for golf.

The two best Texas two-ball scores on the day were 71 and they came from Tommy Clarke/Charlie Rodgers (Clarkes’s Bar G S) and Bill Martin/Pino Perito (Eurogolf G S) other societies close to them were Dave Smith/Kevin Hall (Sportsman G S) and Phil Herrington/Barbara Hitchings (Las Ramblas G S) with 72.

But it needed the other pairing of the Golf Society to win the trophy and this was achieved by the eventual winners Clarkes Bar Golf Society with the team of Tommy Clarke, Charlie Rodgers, Roy Welburn and Robert Wardrop with a Nett score of 132 strokes.

It was a very close fought contest as only 2.50 strokes covered the three teams.

The Inter Society Trophy was presented to the winning team captain by the event organiser Ivie Davies

The final results were:

1. CLARKES BAR GS. Tommy Clarke, Charlie Rodgers, Roy Welburn, Robert Wardrop 132.00

2. SPORTSMAN GS. Dave Smith, Kevin Hall, Tony Wilson, Tony Cary 134.25

3. EN VISTABELLA GS Eddie Kitchingham, Colin Mitchell, Juan Botella, Stan Natynczyk 134.50

Each player of the successful teams received medals and vouchers for golfing goods presented by Pablo Riestra Director of Golf at Vistabella Golf

There was a prize draw for all the players and we thank the sponsors of these excellent prizes who are:
