Eddie Purcell has now been appointed as the new President of Samaritans in Spain.
Ed moved here in 2006, and then worked for the UK Border Agency on a part time basis until 2013 His background covers varied business and voluntary sector interests, including the police force, restaurants and retailing, human resources and security.
He served as a local councillor and justice of the peace in UK, and then with the Spanish Cruz Roja, and Protección Civil, where he currently still volunteers.
Says Ed: “I am delighted to be taking over the role from the outgoing President Chris Sumter with whom I worked for the past couple of years as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Although exciting in terms of facing the challenges ahead, it is also with some trepidation, as Chris will be a very hard act to follow!. Her passion, dedication, strategy, tenacity, and vision, led to the success of our organisation, and the stable platform we stand on today, now enabling us to expand confidently into the future”.
