On Saturday and Sunday 25th & 26th April swimmers across the Alicante region were in action in the 5th Timed Control in the Municipal Pool, Petrer.
Of the 17 clubs participating Torrevieja had 5 cof the team members racing over the weekend. The clubs five swimmers had some good results over the weekend. Eight new personal bests were achieved by Elian Del Rio Castillo, Paula Garcia, Piroska Rideg, and Skye Burns.
Paula achieved new personal best times in all 4 of her races with regional qualifying times in all races and a national qualifying time in her 50m Freestyle (29:90). Elian also gained new PB’s in both his races, with new regional qualifying time in his 50m Freestyle (27:45) and 100m Butterfly (1:08;98). Skye Burns came close to regional time in her 50m Freestyle (33;81) missing out by one second, and in her 100m Freestyle she improved on her time once again.
Another best time was made by Piroska in her 400m Freestyle (5:09:89) a improvement of 10 seconds on her previous best. Vicky Pigneur also raced after a week of illness but was unable to match previous bests.
The Torrevieja swimming squad now have two weeks of training before two weekends of trophy competitions for the whole club, with Masters swimming on the 10th May.
