As part of Operation Morcar26, the Guardia Civil has arrested three males, aged 19 to 29, who are accused of committing two violent robberies, three robberies with force inside public places, and two vehicle thefts in the Vega Baja region.
In late 2025, the inquiry started when numerous cars were stolen in Almoradí and two burglaries happened at hotels in Algorfa. The Almoradí Main Station’s Investigation Unit took over the case since the crimes were happening so often and were so bad.
A close look at the security camera footage from both the crime scene and public streets showed that the same people were responsible for all of the offences being looked into. Also, the authorities already knew the suspects since they had been convicted of crimes against people and property in the past.
Finding the suspects was hard because they didn’t have a known address. During this time, more crimes of the same kind happened, and the same people were blamed for them again.
Two violent robberies in Almoradí were some of the worst things that happened. In one case, a man walking with crutches was attacked and had his phone stolen. He broke his tibia in the process. In another case, a young man was threatened with a knife and made to give over the electric scooter he was riding.
The last part of the operation took place on February 7th and 8th, when the three suspects were arrested in the town of Almoradí.
After being taken to court, the detainees were released with conditions until their trial.
The Guardia Civil has thanked the public for their help. On one occasion, several residents were able to hold one of the suspects until the police got there. Also, recordings given to the police by members of the public were very helpful in finding the offenders.
The strong cooperation between the Guardia Civil and the Local Police of Almoradí is also worth noting. Their officers helped arrest the people who were thought to be responsible.
