A man was assaulted, gagged and left in the middle of a field near Totana after meeting a man through a dating app. The two people who are suspected of committing violent and threatening offences that caused significant injuries, illegal detention, vehicle theft, and trespassing have been detained in the town of Redován in Alicante.
The Guardia Civil said yesterday, Monday February 23rd, that the attack happened in September 2025, when “a person reported being assaulted in their private vehicle.” “The statement went on to say that the victim was on their way to meet a young man in Totana that they didn’t know and had contacted through a dating app.” The Guardia Civil said that two young males attacked the victim in his car in a remote part of the municipality of Totana just before he was supposed to meet with them. One of the attackers was the person he had scheduled to see.
They took his car and fled
The man says they beat him, gagged him, bound his wrists and ankles, stole some of his things and left him in an open field for several hours, until nightfall. He later said that they also took his car and even went to his house.
They took the victim, who was hurt badly, to the hospital. The Judicial Police then started looking into the case, and five months later, they found something.
“The operation was place in two stages. In the first part, the Guardia Civil found and arrested one of the two people who were thought to be responsible for the events being looked into in Redován. The statement says, “During the second phase, they found the second alleged perpetrator and set up a surveillance operation on him. This confirmed that both assailants travelled directly from Redován, where they lived, to Totana and then back to Alicante after committing the acts.”
The operation, which was called “Totargen,” also helped police find the victim’s car and a number of his personal items and documents.
