The Elche Local Police have arrested a man near a popular nightlife area of the city on suspicion of committing a crime against public health by selling drugs in small amounts.
The Elche City Council says that the intervention happened in a nightclub on Calle Luis Llorente because of “repeated complaints from neighbours received in previous weeks.” This was possible since the bar had a monitoring system.
When the policemen got to the scene, they saw a man who, when he saw them, tried to throw a tiny plastic bag on the floor. The officers were able to stop him and get the item back after he tried to run away into the crowd.
When the package was opened, a pink powdery substance was found that was first thought to be pink cocaine. The amount was more than what the National Institute of Toxicology says is enough to assume self-consumption, which led to his arrest for drug trafficking.
Because of this, the person who was arrested was first taken to the Altabix health centre for regular medical care. After that, they were taken to police stations for the appropriate procedures and to be brought before the court.
