Yesterday morning, Wednesday March 25th, the Orihuela Local Police arrested a 45-year-old man. He is suspected of committing a violent robbery in the vicinity of school number 20 in the Los Dolses area, which occurred at the same time as the start of school.
The incident took place at approximately 9:00 a.m. when the suspect, who was operating a personal mobility vehicle (PMV), seized a woman’s purse and subsequently pushed her, resulting in her falling to the ground.
Pursuit on foot in the vicinity of the school
Several local police officers who were directing access to the school were informed of the incident by witnesses at that time. They promptly initiated a foot pursuit in order to identify the suspected perpetrator.
Despite the fact that the individual was eventually apprehended in the vicinity a few minutes later, the police claim that he disregarded the officers’ instructions.
The bag was retrieved during the escape.
The individual flung away the stolen bag during the escape, and it was subsequently recovered by the officers and returned to its owners.
The victim was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to a medical centre for additional assessment. Informed of his rights, the detainee was transferred to the Civil Guard, who are responsible for the investigation.
The incident was resolved in a matter of minutes as a result of the prompt police intervention, which also bolstered security in a highly sensitive environment, such as the entrance to a school.
