A man will stand trial today, Thursday April 9th, in Elche, accused of sexual assault and theft after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and stealing €700 from her. The public prosecutor is seeking a sentence of six years and ten months in prison.
According to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, the events date back to February 2022, when the accused and the victim met at a nightclub in Torrevieja and agreed to go to his home.
Once there, they fell asleep on the sofa, and the man allegedly took advantage of the woman being asleep to remove money from her purse. The following morning, the victim woke up suddenly and realised that the man was subjecting her to inappropriate touching and other sexual acts. She managed to break free and leave the property, at which point she discovered that the €700 had been stolen.
The case will be heard by the Seventh Section of the Provincial Court of Alicante, with the prosecution requesting a prison sentence of six years and ten months for the alleged offences of sexual assault and theft.
