The National Police have shut down a significant distribution centre for stolen items in Alicante. It was based in a residence in the city’s northern portion. Three men, ages 34, 35, and 43, were arrested after the investigation showed they were involved in burglary, fraud, and receiving stolen goods.
The police started looking into the case after someone reported that a bike worth 500 euros had been stolen from the victim’s garage. After this report, police found a house that was said to be a place where stolen goods were received, handled, and sold.
The investigation led to the arrest of two of the major suspects and a search warrant for their home. Officers took a lot of things from inside the property, such as bicycles, wristwatches, jewellery, beacons, mobile phones, tablets, electric scooters, cameras, and TV displays.
A house that is set up to buy and sell stolen goods
The inquiry found that the things that were brought to the house were the results of a number of crimes, such as violent robberies, burglaries, and thefts from cars. It is said that the people who committed these crimes would subsequently go back to the house to drop off the stolen items in exchange for cash.
The officers also said that two rooms in the house were set up just for receiving, handling, and showing off the stolen goods. Also, during the search, tools were uncovered that were said to have been used to remove serial numbers from some of the items that were received.
A third person was found because of the stolen bike
After the first arrests, the inquiry led to the arrest of a third individual. He is accused of receiving stolen goods because he bought the bike that was stolen from the victim’s garage a few days before the heist.
The three people who were arrested have been hauled before the duty magistrates in Alicante. The police are still looking into where all the items that were found came from. Some of these things have already been given back to their owners.
