The Elche City Council’s Department of Commerce has announced the 2026 Book Fair programme. It will take place from April 17th to 19th this year at the Paseo de la Estación, which is a new location because the fair has grown in size in prior years.
Caridad Martínez, the councillor for the area, said that the move is necessary because “we need a bigger space that will allow us to better accommodate participants and visitors.” She also said that more than 120 authors will be at the fair and that more than 200 book signings have been planned for the weekend.
There are 15 bookshops at this year’s fair: Ali i Truc, CopiCarrús, L’Extrem, El Salvador, Séneca Jove, Papelería Alcudia, Campusprint Papelería Librería, Librería Punto y Coma, La Pulga, Diógenes Literario, Santos, Monografic Comics/Frikimasters, Frikimon, Librería la Manzanera, and Seneca. Literaturelx, Letra Violeta, and Escritores en su Tinta are also taking part. The fair will also have a tent run by the Municipal Libraries, same like in past years.
Some of the guest authors are well-known names from both the national and international scenes. For younger readers, there are Gerónimo Stilton and Jordi Sierra i Fabra. For older readers, there are Juan Tallón, Jorge Molist, Miguel Gane, Manuel Vilas, Víctor del Árbol, Alejandro Palomas, Rosario Raro, and Pablo Maurette, among many others. Also, certain authors who have been in past editions will be back, like Lorena Gascón, who is known on social media as @lapsicologajaputa.
Diecisiete Musas, the company in charge of the event, is run by Marina Vicente. She said, “The fair keeps getting bigger every year because people like it and support small local businesses.” She also noted that more and more bookshops are joining this initiative.
The fair will also have books in Valencian, poetry readings, activities for kids, and a new layout of the venue to make sure that all of the planned activities go as smoothly as possible.
On Friday, April 17th at 6:00 p.m., this edition of the Book Fair will officially start. On Sunday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m., it will close.
