In Elda, a town in Alicante, a criminal organisation that specialised in the interior cultivation of marijuana has been dismantled by National Police officers. The police operation led to the arrest of four individuals, aged 21 to 69, consisting of one male and three women, and the seizure of 1,481 marijuana plants.
The investigation commenced following a neighbour’s complaint, which informed authorities of the potential presence of a marijuana plantation in a residence in Elda. According to a statement from Police Headquarters, officers were able to ascertain that the residence under investigation may be home to an indoor plantation after conducting numerous inspections. Additionally, investigators identified an additional residence where illicit activity consistent with marijuana cultivation was suspected through surveillance and monitoring.
A search warrant was requested from the Judicial Authority for the two properties under investigation, based on the evidence that had been gathered. As a result of the investigations, four individuals were apprehended, and a marijuana plantation was identified in each of the properties, with a total of 1,481 plants. Additionally, a firearm with.22 calibre ammunition and €1,500 in cash were discovered, in addition to a sophisticated hydroponic system that was equipped with transformers, air conditioning, and extraction apparatus. Additionally, enquiries were initiated with the electric company to ascertain whether the two properties were experiencing power outages or were fraudulently connected to the grid.
The presence of an illegal connection to the electrical infrastructure was verified by technicians. The detainees were presented to the duty magistrates in Elda following the conclusion of the police procedures. A significant drug dealing point that supplied the municipality of Elda has been eliminated as a result of the police operation that was conducted.
