Benidorm City Council is set to invest just over 59,000 euro in a project to digitalise the El Torrejó Municipal Tourism Office. The initiative will introduce various technological devices designed to enhance the experience for visitors and users of the facility. The Local Government Board has approved the contract for this project to the company Amazing Up-Ingeniería Activa del Ocio SL, for a total amount of 59,290 euro, including VAT. The project is funded by the European Union through Next Generation funds, specifically via the ‘Verde Benidorm’ Tourism Sustainability Plan.
Aida García Mayor, the Councillor for European Funds and Contracting, explained that this ‘Digitalisation of the User Experience at the Benidorm Tourism Office’ project falls under the Digital Transition axis of the ‘Verde Benidorm’ plan. It is intended to complement another project awarded this week: the physical rehabilitation and renovation of the Tourism Office, which has an allocated budget of 103,480.54 euro.
According to the councillor, the proposal from Amazing UP-Ingeniería Activa del Ocio SL was the most highly rated by municipal technicians among the three bids submitted. Once the contract is formalised, the work is expected to be completed within a two-month period.
The contract includes the creation of an immersive room within the El Torrejó Tourism Office, designed as an advanced technological space for cultural and educational promotion. The room will be equipped with high-quality projection, audio, video, and data systems. These elements are considered essential to ensure a functional and high-standard immersive experience. Additionally, the project involves the production of a specific 360-degree video piece for the room and includes a minimum two-year warranty for all installed systems.
The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, alongside Councillor García Mayor, noted that these two projects—digitalisation and physical renovation—will place the flagship Tourism Office at the forefront of modern visitor services. They stated that the upgrades would create a unique experience, allowing tourists to engage with the destination in new ways.
The El Torrejó Municipal Centre, where the office is located, has already established itself as a hub for innovation and tourism intelligence. In addition to the tourism office, the building houses the Department of Tourism, Visit Benidorm, the BeCiTi hub, and the Destination Sustainability Observatory.
