The Chief Commissioner of the Alicante Local Police, José María Conesa, has announced that he is entering his final year of service before his scheduled retirement. During an official event held in Alicante, the veteran officer confirmed that he will step down from his position in May 2027, marking the conclusion of a long and distinguished career within the municipal force.
The announcement was made during the celebration of the feast of the Patron Saint of the Local Police, where Conesa took the opportunity to reflect on his tenure and the evolution of the force. He expressed his gratitude to the officers under his command and noted that his remaining twelve months in the post would be focused on ensuring a smooth transition and completing ongoing projects aimed at modernising the local police service in Alicante.
Local dignitaries and representatives from other security forces, including the Guardia Civil and the National Police, attended the ceremony. The Mayor of Alicante praised Conesa’s dedication to the safety of the city’s residents, highlighting his leadership during significant challenges and his commitment to public service. As the search for a successor begins, the department remains focused on maintaining the standards of security and community policing established during his leadership.
