Orihuela Council has launched a tender for a new municipal tow truck service which, for the first time, will include a permanent operational unit based in Orihuela Costa. This new contract, valued at nearly 500,000 euro per year, aims to significantly reduce response times by establishing a stable base at the Emergency and Security Centre on the coast.
Under the terms of the new agreement, the service will be required to meet a maximum response time of 15 minutes. The contract is set for an initial duration of three years, with the potential for two annual extensions. Mónica Pastor, the Councillor for Contracting, highlighted that the move follows serious and responsible work to provide a magnificent service for both the city and the coastal area.

Manuel Mestre, the Councillor for the Coast, welcomed the news, stating that a permanent tow truck on the shoreline has been a long-standing demand and is absolutely necessary for improving the local response to incidents. Previously, the coastal area relied on units travelling from the city centre, which often led to delays. The new unit will be staffed with a permanent driver and personnel to ensure a 24-hour presence.
