The judge investigating the allocation of public housing in the Les Naus residential complex has issued an urgent demand for documentation from Alicante City Council and the promoting cooperative. This latest ruling from the Court of Instruction number 5 in Alicante comes as part of a judicial investigation into the awarding of municipal land and the subsequent allocation of subsidised homes.
The magistrate has requested the complete administrative file regarding the bidding and awarding of the 8,618 square metre municipal plot where the complex was built. The order specifically asks for all records and background information dating back to 2016, following requests from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the legal defence of one of the investigated parties.
In addition to the council documents, the court has ordered the Les Naus Residential Cooperative Society to hand over minutes of its incorporation from June 2018, as well as records from its general meetings and governing council. The judge also requires a list of the founding members and copies of contracts signed between the cooperative and three private companies.
The investigation focuses on the procedures followed for the allocation of the public housing and the management of the municipal land. Amongst those involved in the case is the head of the Contracting Service of Alicante City Council, María Pérez-Hickman. The judge has stipulated that the information must be submitted before scheduled court statements take place on May 20th.
