Construction has officially commenced on what will become the tallest residential building in Europe, located in the coastal town of Benidorm. The ambitious project, known as the TM Tower, will stand at a height of 230 metres and feature 64 floors, housing a total of 260 homes. This new development represents an investment of 140 million euro.
Situated just a few metres from the Poniente beach, the project has reached a major milestone as construction moves from the subsoil to the ground level, allowing the vertical structure to begin its ascent. Raquel Nadal, the project control manager for TM Grupo Inmobiliario, noted that Benidorm has long demonstrated how well-planned verticality is an efficient way to optimise land use.
The engineering behind the tower is substantial; the foundation consists of a slab supported by 355 piles, involving over 3,500 linear metres of drilling. The structure is designed to support 85,000 tonnes, which Nadal compared to the weight of more than eight Eiffel Towers. To ensure the building can withstand high-altitude conditions, developers conducted two years of wind tunnel testing at the Polytechnic University of Madrid using local anemometer data.

Once completed, the TM Tower will surpass the current record holder for the tallest residential building in Europe, the Zlota 44 in Warsaw, which stands at 192 metres with 52 floors. Residents will have access to 10,000 square metres of communal space, including three swimming pools—one of which is heated—a gym, a spa, and a sky bar. A high-speed lift will allow residents to reach the 64th floor in under a minute.
The delivery of the apartments is scheduled for the second half of 2028, and interest is already high, with almost 50 per cent of the units reported to be sold.
