Torrevieja City Council has approved the basic and execution project to transform four municipal plots into park and ride facilities. This strategic scheme is set to create a total of 3,937 parking spaces distributed across various locations within the municipality.
The entire project represents a total investment of 3,618,541 euro, including VAT. Work is scheduled to take place simultaneously across the different sites, with an estimated timeframe of five months to complete the construction, installation of signage, and comprehensive adaptation of the spaces.
This local authority initiative has been developed to address urban mobility needs, make parking more accessible, and alleviate traffic congestion in the busiest parts of Torrevieja, particularly within the town centre.

The network of high-capacity car parks will be split across four municipal plots:
- Plot 1: Station Avenue – 255 spaces, comprising 243 standard spaces and 12 designated for people with reduced mobility. The investment for this site stands at 614,852.30 euro.
- Plot 2: Ramón del Valle Inclán Avenue – Turret – 213 spaces, made up of 205 standard spaces and 8 for people with reduced mobility. This plot requires an investment of 549,569.50 euro.
- Plot 3: Juan Valera Street – CV-905 – 758 spaces, consisting of 738 standard spaces and 20 for people with reduced mobility. The investment allocated here is 1,213,641.27 euro.
- Plot 4: Delfina Viudes Avenue – Antonio Soria Park – 2,711 spaces, including 2,696 standard spaces and 15 for people with reduced mobility. The investment for this final area is 117,363.22 euro.

Across the entire project, motorists will gain access to 3,882 conventional parking bays alongside 55 adapted spaces for individuals with reduced mobility.
The scope of work involves complete preparation of the land, including clearing, levelling, and compacting the ground. Ground surfaces will be distinctively paved to differentiate between driving lanes and parking zones. Furthermore, rainwater drainage systems will be installed alongside comprehensive horizontal and vertical road signage.
To ensure the new spaces are safe, accessible, and fully functional, the parking zones will feature LED lighting towers, adapted access points, clearly demarcated bays, electrical installations, and security elements.
Through this project, Torrevieja City Council aims to take a decisive step forward in its traffic management strategy and urban development. By creating facilities capable of absorbing a significant volume of surface parking, the council expects to ease pressure in heavily congested zones whilst promoting more orderly, efficient, and sustainable transport choices for residents and visitors alike.
