National Court judge María Tardón has remanded one of the suspects arrested during Thursday’s anti-terrorist operation in the Alicante province in provisional prison without bail. The remaining nine individuals have been released, although legal sources have informed Europa Press that one has been banned from leaving Spain.
The magistrate is investigating the suspects, all of whom are Eastern European citizens, for alleged offences related to terrorism, terrorist financing and self-indoctrination. As a precautionary measure, those who have been released must regularly appear at their nearest court to sign in.
The National Police operation was launched across the locations of Alicante, Xixona and the area of Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, in the Vega Baja region. Ordered by the National Court, the raid was carried out by officers from the General Information Commissariat (CGI) and supported by other elite police units, including the Special Operations Group (GEO).
