The City Council of Rojales has provided the local police with several roaming surveillance cameras over the past month to tackle anti-social behaviour. These cameras are equipped with a quick installation and uninstallation kit, allowing them to be moved to different locations for short periods to tighten the net on individuals misusing public spaces across the municipality.
It is well known that the City Council is fighting a daily battle against the anti-social actions of a minority who dump waste anywhere instead of using the official collection service, creating an intolerable cleanliness problem. Local police carry out daily patrols to identify these offenders. However, the sheer size of the municipality and the hundreds of kilometres of streets make it difficult to catch perpetrators in the act.
With the acquisition of these cameras, local police now have an extra tool at their disposal to curb this bad practice. This effort is also supported by the invaluable cooperation of citizens, who regularly report these situations so that offenders can be penalised.
The cameras have already started capturing images of citizens who are not properly disposing of their crops and pruning waste, resulting in several sanctions being imposed.
A dedicated waste collection service is available from Monday to Friday, which can be reached via WhatsApp or by calling 689 600 184.
