Two people have been sent to prison following their arrest in an operation against drug trafficking carried out in the Alicante province. Those arrested are a 24-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, who are being investigated as allegedly responsible for a crime against public health.
The operation led to the seizure of more than three kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of cannabis resin, a pair of precision scales, 740 euro in cash, mobile phones, notebooks containing handwritten notes and vehicles allegedly used for transporting and concealing the drugs.
The investigation began around a point of sale for narcotic substances located in a property in Novelda. An anti-drug operation had already been carried out at this location previously, and officers detected signs that the activity had been reactivated. Furthermore, they suspected that drugs were being distributed from the property.
During the surveillance carried out around the building, investigators observed that the man visited the property and then made journeys to other towns to allegedly deliver the substances to third parties.
During the operational phase, officers intercepted the vehicle driven by the suspect. Inside the car, they located several packages containing a white substance that tested positive for cocaine. They also found cannabis resin, precision scales and other items related to the investigation.
Part of the drugs was hidden in a modified area of the vehicle. This zone was used as a “caleta”, a hidden compartment employed to transport substances without them being visible.
The investigation made it possible to link the detained man to a garage space located in Aspe, where another vehicle was parked. In the boot of this car, officers found a backpack containing various packages of cocaine and cannabis resin.
Following the arrest of the man, investigators carried out an entry and search at the home of the woman under investigation, where she was also arrested.
The two detainees have been placed at the disposal of the duty courts of instruction in Elche. Finally, imprisonment has been decreed for both.
