Benidorm has officially launched its dedicated summer security operation, bringing in reinforced support for the Local Police’s Beach Section. To ensure the safety of visitors and residents throughout the peak season, a specialised unit consisting of twelve officers—eleven constables and one sergeant—will be stationed exclusively at the city’s beaches and coves.
This team will be on duty daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., working alongside officers already assigned to standard shifts to provide comprehensive coverage. The operation is further supported by the Local Police Maritime Unit, which will patrol the coastline using a semi-rigid boat between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and the Air Unit, which will utilise drones for surveillance and assistance efforts from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This initiative, which began over the weekend, is scheduled to remain in place until the conclusion of the school holidays.
In addition to the increased security presence, the Department of Citizen Security has introduced an information campaign to assist tourists. City officials have distributed one thousand posters across hotels, restaurants, and beach access points. These materials provide safety advice, including warnings against purchasing uninspected beverages, guidance on keeping personal belongings secure, and recommendations to avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day.
During the presentation of the operation, Mayor Toni Pérez highlighted the city’s commitment to scaling municipal services to match the significant seasonal population increase. Noting that Benidorm hosted nearly three million tourists in registered accommodation during 2025—resulting in over 16 million overnight stays—Pérez emphasised that the council provides the same level of care and security to all, regardless of whether they are permanent residents or seasonal visitors.
