The Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez airport has launched a new air connection with the city of Istanbul on Tuesday, 23rd June, courtesy of Pegasus Airlines. This route expands the international offering of the Alicante infrastructure during the summer season.
According to AENA, the Turkish airline will operate four weekly frequencies between Alicante and the main city of Turkey. The flights will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which will strengthen the connections between the province and one of the main tourist and business destinations in the eastern Mediterranean.
The launch of this new route was celebrated on Tuesday at the airport facilities with a welcome event for travellers on the inaugural flight. Passengers were able to enjoy a sweet table organised to mark the premiere of the link, in an act that included the participation of representatives from the airline.
The incorporation of Istanbul into the network of destinations for the Alicante airport is part of the summer programme and contributes to reinforcing the international connectivity of an infrastructure that continues to expand its route and market offerings.
