The National Police have struck a major blow against a criminal organisation dedicated to large-scale cocaine trafficking operating in Alicante and other areas of the Levante region. The operation resulted in the seizure of 10.67 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a false compartment of a vehicle and the arrest of two men allegedly linked to the network.
Investigative work places the criminal network across various locations in Murcia, Granada, Malaga, and Alicante. According to the National Police, the group possessed significant logistical capabilities and was actively involved in the acquisition, handling, distribution, and sale of narcotics throughout the Costa del Sol area.
The main suspect was intercepted in Santiago de la Ribera, Murcia, whilst driving a vehicle specifically modified to transport large quantities of drugs. Investigators had previously located a member of the organisation in that province, believing him to be responsible for transporting cocaine between various locations across the country.
A ‘Go Fast’ trip protected by a shuttle car
During the month of June, investigators detected a potential ‘Go Fast’ trip. This specific method involves travelling at high speeds with the support of additional vehicles in an effort to evade law enforcement action.
In this instance, a secondary car was travelling several kilometres ahead of the target vehicle, serving as a scout. Its intended role was to detect potential police checkpoints and warn the driver transporting the drugs in time.
Officers observed the vehicle heading north through Spain before returning towards the Region of Murcia. When officers moved to intercept the car, the driver reacted by ramming the police officers in an attempt to run them over.
Several officers sustained injuries of varying severity and required medical attention. The suspect subsequently led police on a high-speed chase lasting several kilometres before he was finally apprehended. Another individual travelling in the vehicle, who was also under initial investigation, managed to escape the scene.

More than 10 kilos hidden under the seats
A detailed search of the vehicle later revealed a concealed compartment beneath the rear seats. Nine packages of cocaine, perfectly wrapped to hinder detection, were hidden within the space.
The packages were printed with the phrase “THUG LIFE”, translating to “criminal life”. The seized substance weighed a total of 10 kilos and 670 grams. According to police statements, the drugs could be of high purity, pending further analysis.
The driver was arrested as the suspected perpetrator of drug trafficking offences, membership in a criminal organisation, assault against law enforcement officers, and offences against road safety, before being brought before a judge.
The second individual involved was located later during a traffic check conducted by the Guardia Civil in Mijas, in the province of Malaga, where he was also arrested.
Police and judicial investigations suggest both men were part of an organisation with sufficient resources to move large shipments of drugs across different provinces. The network is believed to operate in Alicante and other parts of the Levante region, alongside maintaining active connections with the Costa del Sol.
The investigation remains open, and the National Police do not rule out further arrests related to the acquisition, transport, handling, and distribution of cocaine.
