The Guardia Civil carried out the operations in Torrevieja as part of routine preventative checks on public roads. All four individuals were subject to European Arrest and Surrender Warrants issued by judicial authorities in Sweden and Poland.
The first person apprehended was a 30-year-old Swedish national wanted for offences including kidnapping, illegal detention, and theft. On the very same day, officers located a second Swedish national, who was wanted for drug trafficking offences and has an outstanding sentence of one year and four months in prison to serve in his home country.
In the days following these initial arrests, officers detained two more suspects in Torrevieja. The third individual was a 55-year-old Polish national wanted for attempted murder, kidnapping, and illegal possession of weapons. The final suspect was a 22-year-old Swedish man wanted for offences against public health.
Following the completion of police proceedings, all four detainees were placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction of the Audiencia Nacional in Madrid, the judicial body responsible for handling European Arrest Warrant procedures and deciding on extradition requests.
