The Provincial Court of Alicante will next week try two cases of alleged sexual assault involving minors linked to the Marina Alta region. Today, Monday 5th October, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will request a 14-year prison sentence at the oral hearing for a man accused of continuous offences of sexual assault and grooming. The Public Prosecutor accuses him of subjecting his partner’s underage niece to touching of her private parts and other sexual practices when they were together at a family home in Calpe.
The events began in 2013 when the victim was only five years old and the defendant, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, took advantage of the moments when he was alone with her to sexually assault her. Three years later, the minor moved away from Spain to live with her family and the man, according to the Public Prosecutor’s account, asked her on several occasions to send him videos and photographs of herself in a provocative attitude. The accused would also have sent her images of his genitals.
The Javea case
And on Wednesday 7th October, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will provisionally request a prison sentence of also 14 years for a continuous offence of sexual assault with carnal access to a minor for a man accused of subjecting the underage daughter of his former partner to various acts of a sexual nature.
The events began in 2020 when the defendant, who had already finalised his romantic relationship with the mother of the minor, regularly went to her home in Javea to stay in the company of the victim, who was 10 years old at the time. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man took advantage of these moments to sexually assault her. The situation continued until 2023, always according to the prosecution’s account.
