This year the Town Hall of Altea has decided to hold a small Christmas Fayre in front of the Town Hall, from the 19th till the 24th of December.

Perhaps a bit late, but an excellent solution for all those who have adapted to the Spanish way of life and left their Christmas shopping till the last moment. Here you will certainly find something really original for your nearest and dearest, even on Christmas Eve!

There will be some fifteen stalls with interesting and original craft work, from Christmas decorations and beautiful ceramics, to exclusive leather bags, jewelry, puppets and toys – there’s something for everybody. Most of the people on the stalls have their equipment and tools with them, and can add that personal touch to a present, or even take orders for something really original.

For the younger visitors there is a merry-go-round and storytelling. The Fayre opens on Friday 19 December at 6 pm and finishes on Wednesday the 24th at midday. Opening times are in the mornings from 11 till 2 and afternoons from 5 to 9 o’clock. The square lies on the big shopping street parallel to the main N332 road through Altea, and there’s an underground car park under the Fayre.

Or you can live it up by taking the train in either Alfaz del Pi or Calpe station and stepping out on the platform that leads directly to the Fayre.

This is an other market organised by craft association Amata. For more information (even in English) try ringing 639 979 678. For photographs of other fairs organised by Amata, take a look on their web page http://www.amata.es.
