James Gaffigan and the OCV inaugurate the Les Arts season with concerts in Altea, Torrent and Torrevieja

James Gaffigan and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV) inaugurate this week the new season of Les Arts with a concert tour in Altea, Torrent and Torrevieja, as part of the institution’s commitment to develop a backbone program accessible to everyone.

The musical director of Les Arts and his main line-up visit this Thursday, September 1, the Palau Altea in the city of Marina Baixa, with a program featuring pages by Esplá, Mozart and Schumann in the lectern, which they will also present to the Torrent Auditorium, on the 2nd, and on Saturday, September 3rd at the Torrevieja International Auditorium.

On this tour, James Gaffigan conducts two unpublished works in the repertoire of the Orchestra of the Valencian Community: ‘Symphony no. 3’, ‘Renana’, by Schumann, and the first notebook of ‘Lírica española, op. 54’, by Óscar Esplá from Alicante, orchestrated by Pedro Salinas. The main line-up of Les Arts will also perform the ‘Symphony no. 34’ by Mozart.

The initiative is part of ‘Les Arts amb Tu’, the line of programming that develops proximity actions to bring the artistic activity of the theatre and its artistic assets closer to the diversity of municipalities in the three provinces of the Community Valencian

During the past season, ‘Les Arts amb Tu’ has offered lyrical recitals, staged opera, chamber music and symphonic evenings in more than 20 locations in the Valencian Community by the artists of the Centre for Perfection, the Orchestra of the Valencian Community and the stage truck of ‘Les Arts Volant’. This proposal will have continuity within the 2022-2023 Season.

The Palau de les Arts makes its most ambitious bet for the symphonic repertoire in the 2022-2023 Season, with the presence of some of the main batons of the international circuit to conduct the Orchestra of the Valencian Community.

The OCV will be the protagonist of a selection of programs prepared to exhibit its excellence together with the Choir of the Generalitat Valenciana, with essential pages of the great composers of the repertoire: Berlioz, Bernstein, Brahms, Debussy, Mahler, Prokófiev , Rachmaninov and Strauss, among others.

The calendar includes a total of 16 performances and concerts in the three provinces of the Valencian Community, within the purpose of Les Arts to offer a local artistic activity.
